It would be nice if you can bring a mode apart from canvas and binder for a simple notebook layout like what we get in Freenotes,notability,etc.

When you create a new canvas we have a focused view for binders, it can also be accessed via the “eye” icon on a binder header. This focused view gives you the benefits of goodnotes/ notability while still remaining in the canvas.
If this focused view is not what you described, let me know anything specifically you would like us to consider. If it is please let us know what we could do to explain / improve the the discoverability of this feature.
